HIV-1 protease

HIV-1 protease (PR) adalah sebuah enzim protease aspartat retrovirus (retropepsin), yang terlibat dalam hidrolisis ikatan peptida dalam retrovirus, dan merupakan enzim penting daram siklus hidup HIV (retrovirus penyebab AIDS). HIV protease memutus poliprotein Gag dan Gag-Pol yang baru disintesis pada sembilan titik berbeda untuk menghasilkan komponen-komponen protein yang membentuk virion HIV. Tanpa HIV protease yang bekerja dengan baik, partikel-partikel virus HIV tidak dapat menginfeksi sel.
