Bakteriorodopsin adalah protein yang digunakan oleh Archaea, terutama oleh Halobacteria, kelas dari Euryarchaeota. Ini bertindak sebagai pompa proton; yaitu, menangkap energi cahaya dan menggunakannya untuk memindahkan proton melintasi membran dari sel.
