Philophrosyne, juga disebut Jupiter LVIII, awalnya dikenal sebagai S/2003 J 15, adalah salah satu satelit alami Jupiter. Philophrosyne ditemukan oleh tim astronom dari Universitas Hawaii yang dipimpin oleh Scott S. Sheppard dkk. pada tahun 2003, tetapi kemudian dinyatakan hilang. Philophrosyne ditemukan kembali pada tahun 2017 dan diberikan penomoran tetap pada tahun yang sama.

Bersama Philophrosyne, Jupiter untuk saat ini diketahui memiliki 79 satelit.

Ciri-ciri sunting

Philophrosyne berdiameter sekitar 2 kilometer, dan mengorbit Jupiter pada jarak rata-rata 22.721.000 km dalam 699,676 hari, pada inklinasi sebesar 142° terhadap ekliptika (142° terhadap khatulistiwa Jupiter), dalam arah retrograde dan dengan eksentrisitas sebesar 0,0932.

Philophrosyne termasuk dalam kelompok Pasiphae, yaitu kelompok satelit ireguler retrograde yang mengorbit Jupiter pada jarak antara 22,8 dan 24,1 Gm, dengan inklinasi sekitar 150-155°.

Nama sunting

Satelit ini dinamai pada tahun 2019 menurut tokoh Filofrosini (Φιλοφροσύνη), yaitu roh sambutan, keramahan, dan kebaikan dari Yunani kuno, putri Hefaistos dan Aglaia, serta cucu dari Zeus. Nama ini berasal dari kontes penamaan yang diadakan di Twitter di mana beberapa pengguna menyarankan nama tersebut, dan yang paling utama adalah pengguna CHW3M Myth Experts (@Chw3mmyths) yang merupakan siswa-siswi kelas sejarah di kelas 11 yang mempelajari filsafat Yunani dan Romawi per tahun 2019, Victoria (@CharmedScribe), dan Lunartic (@iamalunartic) yang secara bersamaan juga membantu dalam penamaan satelit Jupiter Eupheme.
