Acara Academy Awards ke-69, diselenggarakan oleh Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) yang diadakan pada 24 Maret 1997, di Shrine Auditorium di Los Angeles yang dimulai pada pukul 6:00 p.m. WSP / 9:00 p.m. WST. Pada acara tersebut, AMPAS mempersembahkan Academy Awards (umumnya disebut sebagai Oscars) dalam 24 kategori diberikan kepada film-film yang dirilis pada 1996. Acara tersebut, yang ditayangkan di Amerika Serikat oleh ABC, yang diproduksi oleh Gil Cates dan disutradarai oleh Louis J. Horvitz. Aktor Billy Crystal membawakan acara tersebut untuk kelima kalinya. Ia pertama kali membawakan acara ke-62 yang diadakan pada 1990 dan terakhir membawakan 65th ceremony held in 1993. Three weeks earlier, in a ceremony held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on March 1, the Academy Awards for Technical Achievement were presented by host Helen Hunt.
