Kirik-kirik senja (bahasa Latin = Merops leschenaulti) adalah spesies burung dari keluarga Meropidae, dari genus Merops. Burung ini merupakan jenis burung pemakan lebah, capung, kupu, kumbang yang memiliki habitat merata di berbagai tempat, tempat terbuka atau pepohonan, tersebar sampai ketinggian 1.200 m dpl.
Ciri-ciri sunting
Kirik-kirik senja memiliki tubuh berukuran agak kecil (20 cm). Berwarna coklat dan hijau tua tanpa perpanjangan pada ekor. Mahkota, tengkuk, dan mantel coklat berangan terang. Sayap dan ekor hijau. Tungging biru terang. Kerongkongan kuning dibatasi warna coklat berangan. Pada dada atas terdapat garis hitam sempit. Perut hijau pucat. Setrip mata hitam. Sayap bawah jingga, terlihat saat terbang. Iris coklat kemerahan, paruh hitam, kaki coklat tua. Terbang berkeliling dari satu tempat ke tempat yang lain dalam kelompok.
Kirik-kirik senja remaja biasanya ditandai dengan mantel dan mahkota berwarna hijau dengan beberapa warna coklat berangan terang di belakang mahkotanya.
Sarang berupa saluran horisontal sempit dalam gundukan tanah. Telur berwarna keputih-putihan, jumlah 3-4 butir. Berbiak bulan Juli, September, Oktober.
