Ledakan populasi

Ledakan populasi atau kelebihan penduduk adalah kondisi terlalu banyak manusia di Bumi sehingga sumber daya yang ada tidak cukup untuk memenuhi kebutuhan mereka. Dengan kondisi saat ini, diperkirakan Bumi masih mampu memenuhii kebutuhan sekitar 11 miliar umat manusia.

Setiap tahun populasi dunia bertambah sekitar 80 juta. Sekitar setengah penduduk dunia hidup di negara dengan sub-replacement fertilty dan pertumbuhan populasi dikarenakan imigrasi.

Menurut Worldometer, per 20 September 2020, total jumlah manusia kurang lebih 7,8 miliar. Perhitungan PBB juga berada pada angka di atas 7 miliar. Kelahiran bayi ke-7 miliar dirayakan PBB pada 2011. Dengan pertumbuhan seperti ini, diperlukan pertambahan sumber daya 70 persen untuk dapat memenuhi kebutuhan manusia pada 2050.
