Kerit

Kerit (Ibrani: נַחַל כְּרִית; Naḥal Kərīṯ; /ˈkɔːrɑːθ/; bahasa Yunani: Χειμάῤῥους Χοῤῥάθ cheimárrhous Chorrháth, artinya "Wadi Kerit"), adalah nama sungai atau wadi yang disebutkan dalam Perjanjian Lama. Nabi Elia bersembunyi di tepi Korat dan memakani para gagak pada paruh awal kekeringan tiga tahun yang ia umumkan kepada Raja Ahab (1 Raja 17:3).

Wadi al-Yabis sunting

Kerit biasanya diidentidikasikan dengan Wadi al-Yabis, sebuah sungai di barat Yordania.

Wadi Kelt sunting

Selain itu, sungai Kerit diidentifikasikan oleh beberapa orang dengan Wadi Kelt di Biara Santo Gregorius.

Wadi di Fasaelis sunting

Pada 1321, Marino Sanuto yang Tua menyatakan bahwa sungai tersebut berada di Fasaelis, yang diambil dari nama Pangeran Fasael, saudara Raja Herodes. Identifikasi tersebut bertentangan dengan terjemahan umum dari 1 Raja-Raja 17:3, karena Fasaelis mengalir ke barat, bukan timur Yordania.
