Johann Gustav Droysen (bahasa Jerman: [ˈdʀɔʏzən]; 6 Juli 1808 – 19 Juni 1884) adalah seorang sejarawan Jerman. Penulisannya tentang sejarah Aleksander Agung adalah karya pertama yang mewakili sebuah aliran baru dari bidang sejarah Jerman.

Kehidupan awal dan pendidikan Sunting
Droysen lahir di Treptow, Pomerania (sekarang Trzebiatów di Polandia). Ayahnya, Johann Christoph Droysen, adalah seorang tentara yang terlibat saat pengepungan Kolberg pada 1806–1807. Pada masa kecilnya, Droysen melihat beberapa operasi militer saat Perang Pembebasan
Kehidupan pribadi Sunting
Droysen menikah dua kali, dan meninggal di Berlin. Putra sulungnya, Gustav, menulis beberapa karya sejarah terkenal, yang bernama, Gustav Adolf (Leipzig, 1869–1870), sebuah pembelajaran dari Gustavus Adolphus, Raja Swedia saat Perang Tiga Puluh Tahun, dan Herzog Bernhard von Weimar (Leipzig, 1885), sebuah pembelajaran dari Adipati Bernhard, Jenderal Protestan lainnya pada masa Perang Tiga Puluh Tahun; Historischer Handatlas (Leipzig, 1886), sebuah analisis geografi dan perubahan wilayah, dan beberapa penulisan tentang berbagai peristiwa saat Perang Tiga Puluh Tahun. Putra lainnya, Hans Droysen, adalah pengarang beberapa karya tentang sejarah dan barang-barang antik Yunani.
