Jacques Tits (12 Agustus 1930 – 5 Desember 2021) adalah seorang matematikawan Prancis kelahiran Belgia yang terkenal atas hasil kerjanya dalam bidang teori grup dan geometri. Ia juga telah memperkenalkan Grup Tits, Alternatif Tits dan Bangun Tits. Pada tahun 2008, ia bersama rekannya John G. Thompson mendapat Penghargaan Abel atas hasil kerja mereka.

Penghargaan sunting
Ia mendapat Penghargaan Wolf dalam bidang matematika pada tahun 1993, Medali Cantor dari perhimpunan matematika Jerman tahun 1996 serta tanda kehormatan "Pour le Mérite". Tahun 2008 ia mendapat Penghargaan Abel bersama rekannya John G. Thompson atas prestasi mereka yang mendalam dalam bidang aljabar dan khususnya untuk membentuk teori grup modern.

The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters has decided to award the Abel Prize for 2008 to John Griggs Thompson, University of Florida and Jacques Tits, Collège de France. This was announced by the Academy’s President, Ole Didrik Lærum, at a press conference in Oslo today. Thompson and Tits receives the Abel Prize “for their profound achievements in algebra and in particular for shaping modern group theory”.
