Burton L. Mack adalah seorang pengarang dan sarjana sejarah gereja perdana dan Perjanjian Baru. Ia adalah Profesor emeritus John Wesley dalam bidang Kekristenan awal di Sekolah Teologi Claremont, Claremont, California. Mack utamanya merupakan sarjana asal muasal Kristen, memandangnya dari sudut pandang pembentukan kelompok sosial. Pandangan Mack adalah skeptis, dan ia memandang dokumen-dokumen Kristrn tradisional seperti Injil sebagai mitos karena dianggap bertentangan dengan sejarah. Ia memandang Injil sebagai dokumen-dokumen piagam ketimbang sebagai catatan kehidupan Yesus.
