Bahasa Proto-Helenik (secara kurang tepat disebut sebagai Bahasa Proto-Yunani) adalah bahasa Indo-Eropa yang merupakan leluhur dari semua ragam bentuk bahasa Yunani dan Makedonia Kuno. Penutur bahasa Proto-Helenik diperkirakan bermigrasi ke Balkan Selatan (sekarang Yunani) pada tahun 2200 hingga 1900 SM, dan terjadinya ragam utara dan selatan diperkirakan pada tahun 1700 SM.

Pandangan kurang populer tentang wilayah penutur bahasa Proto-Helenik pada milenium ke-3 SM, direkonstruksi oleh Vladimir I. Georgiev (1973 & 1981). Batas-batasnya didasarkan pada konsentrasi tinggi nama-nama tempat Yunani kuno di wilayah tersebut, berbeda dengan Yunani selatan yang mempertahankan banyak nama tempat Pra-Helenik menurut Georgiev. Latar belakang

Bahasa Proto-Helenik berkembang dari bahasa Proto-Indo-Eropa (PIE), fase terakhir yang melahirkan rumpun bahasa ini terjadi kira-kira pada 2500 SM. Bahasa Pra-Proto-Helenik, dialek Indo-Eropa dari tahap Proto-Helenik berasal, muncul pada tahun 2400 SM- 2200 SM di daerah yang berbatasan dengan bahasa Pra-Proto-Indo-Iran di timur dan Pra-Proto-Armenia dan Pra-Proto-Frigia di barat, di perbatasan timur Eropa tenggara.
