Abelmoschus adalah sebuah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam famili Malvaceae yang berasal dari Afrika tropis, Asia, dan Australia utara. Genus ini sebelumnya termasuk dalam bagian dari genus Hibiscus, tetapi sekarang diklasifikasikan sebagai genus yang berbeda. Nama genus ini berasal dari bahasa Arab yang berarti "bapaknya musk" atau "sumber musk", mengacu pada bijinya yang beraroma.

Anggota genus ini tumbuh setinggi 2 m. Panjang dan lebar daunnya 10–40 cm. Terdapat 3-7 lobus di lobus palmatenya, kedalaman lobusnya sangat bervariasi mulai dari lobus tipis hingga memotong hampir ke pangkal daun. Bunganya berdiameter 4–8 cm, dengan lima kelopak berwarna putih hingga kuning, seringkali dengan bercak merah atau ungu di pangkal tiap kelopaknya. Buahnya berbentuk kapsul dengan panjang 5–20 cm dan mengandung banyak biji.

Spesiesnya digunakan sebagai pakan alami oleh larva beberapa spesies Lepidoptera termasuk Chionodes hibiscella yang telah tercatat pada Abelmoschus moschatus (Kapasan).
