William Kennedy Laurie Dickson (3 Agustus 1860 – 28 September 1935) adalah seorang penemu asal Inggris yang merancang kamera film di bawah arahan Thomas Edison.

Kehidupan awal sunting

William Kennedy Dickson lahir pada tanggal 3 Agustus 1860 di Le Minihic-sur-Rance, Brittany, Prancis. Ibunya adalah Elizabeth Kennedy-Laurie (1823?-1879) yang mungkin lahir di Virginia. Ayahnya adalah James Waite Dickson, seorang seniman, astronom, dan ahli bahasa asal Skotlandia. James Dickson mengklaim garis keturunan langsung dari sang pelukis William Hogarth dan dari Hakim John Waite, orang yang menjatuhkan hukuman mati kepada Raja Charles I.
