Toby Kebbell, anak keempat dari lima bersaudara, lahir di South Elmsall, di jalan A638 antara Doncaster dan Wakefield, Yorkshire, tetapi ia dibesarkan di Nottingham di mana ia menempuh pendidikan di The Newark Academy (sebelumnya The Grove Comprehensive) di Balderton. Ia dibesarkan oleh ibunya, Michelle Mathers, seorang juru masak dan tukang kebun, setelah orang tuanya bercerai. Ayahnya, Robert Kebbell, merupakan seorang insinyur.
