Dalam taksonomi, Thermoplasmatales merupakan ordo dalam Thermoplasmata. Semuanya asidofili, tumbuh optimal pada pH di bawah 2. Picrophilus saat ini yang paling asidofilik dari semua organisme diketahui tumbuh pada pH minimum 0,06. Banyak dari organisme tidak mengandung dinding sel, meskipun hal ini tidak benar dalam kasus Picrophilus. Sebagian besar anggota Thermotoplasmata termofilik.
