Steve Bannon

Stephen Kevin "Steve" Bannon (lahir 27 November 1953) adalah aktivis politik dan pebisnis Amerika Serikat yang saat ini menjabat sebagai Asisten Presiden dan Kepala Strategiwan di pemerintahan Donald Trump. Sejak 28 Januari 2017, ia menjadi anggota tetap Komite Utama Dewan Keamanan Nasional. Sebelum menjabat di Gedung Putih, Bannon merupakan CEO kampanye presiden Trump 2016. Sebelum terjun ke politik, Bannon menjabat sebagai direktur eksekutif Breitbart News, situs berita, opini, dan komentar sayap kanan jauh yang dijuluki sebagai "tampungan aspirasi sayap kanan alternatif".

Bannon cuti dari Breitbart untuk mengurus kampanye Trump. Usai pemilu, ia mengumumkan akan mengundurkan diri dari Breitbart.

Pada Agustus 2020, Bannon dan tiga orang lainnya ditangkap dan didakwa dengan konspirasi untuk melakukan penipuan surat dan pencucian uang sehubungan dengan kampanye Kami Membangun Tembok. Para terdakwa diduga memperkaya diri sendiri, meskipun berjanji bahwa semua kontribusi akan digunakan untuk membangun tembok. Bannon mengaku tidak bersalah dan diampuni oleh Trump sebelum tanggal persidangannya.

Pada November 2020, akun Twitter Bannon ditangguhkan secara permanen setelah dia menyarankan agar pakar penyakit menular pemerintah federal, Anthony Fauci, dan Direktur FBI Christopher Wray, harus dieksekusi.

Bannon ditahan di penghinaan Kongres pada Oktober 2021 setelah dia menolak untuk mematuhi subpoena yang dikeluarkan oleh Komite Pemilihan DPR Amerika Serikat tentang Penyerbuan Gedung Kapitol, Dewan Komite perwakilan yang menyelidiki penyerbuan Gedung Kapitol 2021. Dia didakwa oleh dewan juri federal atas dua tuduhan kriminal penghinaan Kongres. Pada Juli 2022, dia dinyatakan bersalah atas kedua tuduhan dalam pengadilan juri. Kedua tuntutan masing-masing membawa minimal 30 hari hingga maksimal 1 tahun penjara serta denda $100–100.000.

Bannon menganggapi terjadinya bom mobil yang membunuh Darya Dugina di Oblast Moskow, Rusia, ia menuduh Badan Intelijen Pusat (CIA) atas pembunuhan Darya Dugina dan dia telah mendokumentasikan kontak dengan Aleksandr Dugin, dan menggambarkan dirinya sebagai penggemar buku Dugin, The Fourth Political Theory. Bannon memuji mereka yang berpartisipasi dalam Penyerbuan Praça dos Três Poderes 2023 di Brasília, Brasil sebagai "pejuang kemerdekaan Brasil", dilaporkan telah bertemu dan menasihati Jair Bolsonaro setelah kekalahannya dalam pemilu Brasil 2022.
