diterbitkan triwulanan hingga awal tahun 1990 an setelah sempat beberapa waktu terbit bulanan pada awal tahun 1950 an Pada tahun 1991 majalah ini merger dengan Monthly Film Bulletin yang juga terbitan BFI dan sejak itu pula mulai terbit bulanan Gavin Lambert menduduki posisi redaktur dari 1949 hingga 1955 Dari 1956 hingga 1990 redaktur dijabat oleh Penelope Houston Setelah diluncurkan kembali
