Shigeo Kurata (倉田 重夫, Kurata Shigeo) adalah seorang ahli botani Jepang dan ahli taksonomi Nepenthes yang bekerja pada tahun 1960-an sampai 1970-an dan berkontribusi banyak pada tumbuhan populer ini. Karyanya yang dikenal terbaik adalah Nepenthes of Mount Kinabalu. Nepenthes kurata diberi nama untuk menghormatinya.
Kurata telah mendeskripsikan sejumlah spesies Nepenthes baru, yaitu N. campanulata, N. eymae, N. mindanaoensis, N. peltata, N. rhombicaulis, dan N. saranganiensis. Ia juga mendeskripsikan N. pyriformis, yang kemudian diakui sebagai hibrida alami oleh Charles Clarke. Hibrida alami lain yang dinamai oleh Kurata yaitu N. × ferrugineomarginata, N. × kinabaluensis, dan N. × kuchingensis.
