Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band adalah sebuah album yang diluncurkan oleh band Rock asal Inggris, The Beatles. Pada Agustus 1966, The Beatles secara permanen pensiun dari tur konser dan memulai liburan tiga bulan. Selama penerbangan kembali ke London pada Bulan November, Paul McCartney memiliki ide untuk lagu yang melibatkan band militer Era Edward yang membentuk Prakarsa Konsep Sgt. Pepper. Konsep & Inspirasi

Sementara di London tanpa teman satu bandnya, McCartney mengambil obat halusinogen LSD (atau "asam") untuk pertama kalinya, setelah lama menolak desakan Lennon dan Harrison bahwa ia bergabung dengan mereka dan Starr dalam mengalami efek peningkatan persepsi. Martin mengingat Sgt. Pepper "lebih berkembang dari album Revolver", menandai "era eksperimen teknologi yang hampir berkelanjutan". Menurut Geoff Emerick, insinyur rekaman The Beatles, "perbedaan utama" antara kedua album itu dengan Sgt.Pepper adalah, tidak adanya batasan waktu absolut untuk penyelesaian. Sesi rekaman dimulai pada tanggal 24 November 1966 di Studio Two EMI Studios (selanjutnya disebut Abbey Road Studios), menandai pertama kalinya The Beatles bergabung kembali sejak September. Terjangkau dengan kemewahan anggaran rekaman yang hampir tak terbatas, band ini memesan sesi terbuka yang dimulai pukul 7 malam dan memungkinkan mereka untuk bekerja selambat yang mereka inginkan. Dia menulis lebih dari setengah materi album sambil menegaskan peningkatan kontrol atas rekaman komposisinya. Sgt. Pepper menggunakan mesin peralatan rekaman Four-Track. Walaupun mesin rekam Eight-Track tersedia di Amerika Serikat, unit pertama tidak beroperasi di studio komersial di London hingga akhir 1967.

Cover Album

Cover album Sgt. Pepper's adalah salah satu yang terbaik hingga kini. Cover album itu memperlihatkan puluhan orang-orang terkenal yang dipilih oleh The Beatles sendiri, The Beatles dalam pakaian karnaval, dan juga patung lilin The Beatles masa moptop. 1. According to author Allen J. Wiener, the album's intended release date of 1 June has been "traditionally observed" over the ensuing decades, yet the true release date was 26 May.
2. McCartney has said that the idea for the title came from his mishearing Evans asking for "salt and pepper" over a meal. According to Larry Portis, the "Sergeant Pepper" referred to in the song is "the ghost of either Will Pepper or his son Harry S. Pepper", described by Portis as "two outstanding figures in English show business". Will Pepper was the manager of an Edwardian concert party called "Will C. Pepper's White Coons".
3. In Martin's opinion: "Without Pet Sounds, Sgt. Pepper never would have happened ... Pepper was an attempt to equal Pet Sounds."
