Seni rupa Romawi Timur

Seni rupa Bizantium adalah nama untuk produk-produk artistik dari Kekaisaran Romawi Timur (Bizantium), serta negara-negara dan negeri-negeri yang diwarisi budaya dari kekaisaran tersebut. Meskipun kekaisaran tersebut berdiri dari kemunduran Romawi dan berlangsung sampai Kejatuhan Konstantinopel pada 1453, beberapa negara Ortodoks Timur di Eropa Timur, serta beberapa negara Muslim di Mediterania timur, memakai beberapa aspek budaya dan seni rupa kekaisaran selama berabad-abad setelahnya.

Mozaik Bizantium paling terkenal yang masih ada dari Hagia Sophia di Konstantinopel – gambar dari Kristus Pantokrator di tembok hulu galeri selatan. Mozaiknya dibuat pada abad ke-12.

Sejumlah negara sezaman dengan Kekaisaran Bizantium dipengaruhi oleh budaya kekaisaran tersebut,meskipun sebenarnya tidak menjadi bagian dari kekaisaran tersebut ("persemakmuran Bizantium"). Negara-negara tersebut meliputi Bulgaria, Serbia, dan Rus, serta beberapa negara non-Ortodoks seperti Republik Venesia dan Kerajaan Sisilia, yang memiliki hubungan dekat dengan Kekaisaran Bizantium di samping dengan budaya Eropa barat. Seni rupa yang dihasilkan oleh penganut Kristen Ortodoks Timur yang tinggal di Kekaisaran Utsmaniyah sering disebut "pasca-Bizantium". Tradisi artistik tertentu yang berasal dari Kekaisaran Bizantium, yang sebagian besar terkait lukisan ikon dan arsitektur gereja, merupakan hal umum di Yunani, Serbia, Bulgaria, Rusia dan negara-negara Ortodoks Timur lainnya sampai masa sekarang.
