AMR GP Limited

AMR GP, secara resmi dikenal dengan nama AMR GP Limited (sebelumnya Racing Point UK Limited) merupakan sebuah perusahaan Inggris yang memiliki dan mengoperasikan tim Aston Martin F1, sebuah tim balap Formula Satu yang bermarkas di Silverstone, Inggris. AMR GP dibentuk pada Agustus 2018 untuk membeli aset-aset balap Formula Satu dari tim yang bangkrut yaitu Force India Formula One Team. Setelah aset diakuisisi sebelum Grand Prix Belgia 2018, tim tersebut berkompetisi di Grand Prix tersebut dan sisa musim 2018 dengan nama Racing Point Force India Formula One Team, melanjutkan penggunaan nama konstruktor Force India. Pada musim 2019 tim tersebut berganti nama menjadi Racing Point F1 Team dan berkompetisi dengan nama konstruktor Racing Point, sampai tim tersebut berubah menjadi Aston Martin di tahun 2021.

Sejarah

Sebelum Racing Point UK

Pada 27 Juli 2018, setelah mengoperasikan Force India Formula One Team selama sebelas musim, Force India Formula One Team Limited dinyatakan pailit.

Di tanggal 2 Agustus 2018, sebuah konsorsium investasi yang dipimpin oleh Lawrence Stroll, ayah dari mantan pembalap Williams Lance Stroll, dan beranggotakan André Desmarais, Jonathan Dudman, John D. Idol, John McCaw Jr., Michael de Picciotto dan Silas Chou, dan didukung oleh anggota pengurus senior tim, mendirikan sebuah perusahaan baru, Racing Point UK Limited, sebagai sarana untuk menyelamatkan tim tersebut. Pada 23 Agustus 2018, perusahaan baru tersebut mencapai kesepakatan dengan panitia pengurus pailit untuk membeli aset-aset dari tim tersebut dan menjamin pekerjaan dari seluruh 400 karyawan yang bekerja di tim tersebut. Perusahaan baru tersebut membentuk konstruktor baru dengan aset yang ada dan mendaftarkan konstruktor tersebut sebelum berlangsungnya Grand Prix Belgia 2018, mengisi posisi yang sebelumnya diisi oleh tim Force India.

Sebagian besar posisi yang dipegang oleh anggota tim tidak berubah di tim baru tersebut, kecuali Robert Fernley, yang mundur dari posisinya sebagai wakil kepala tim di Force India, dan Otmar Szafnauer yang menjadi kepala tim dan Direktur Utama setelah menjadi direktur operasional di Force India sejak tahun 2010.

Racing Point Force India F1 Team (2018)

Pada 23 Agustus 2018, badan pengatur Formula Satu, Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) menyepakati bahwa Racing Point UK dapat mengambil alih posisi dari Force India pada musim 2018, namun mereka tidak akan membawa 59 poin yang didapat oleh Force India ataupun hadiah uang yang mereka telah dapatkan selama musim tersebut berlangsung. Racing Point Force India Formula One Team menggunakan nama konstruktor Force India, mendaftarkan tim mereka pada Grand Prix Belgia 2018 yang berlangsung pada 26 Agustus 2018, dengan nol poin.

Pembalap Force India, Sergio Pérez dan Esteban Ocon, tetap bertahan dengan tim dan mereka mampu melanjutkan perebutan poin pada klasemen kejuaraan pembalap serta tetap menyimpan selutuh poin yang telah mereka dapat sebelumnya di musim tersebut.

Racing Point Force India Formula One Team berkompetisi pada sembilan Grand Prix terakhir di musim 2018, dan mengumpulkan 52 points, yang memantapkan posisi mereka di posisi ketujuh pada klasemen kejuaraan konstruktor.

Racing Point F1 Team (2019–2020)

Sergio Pérez pada Grand Prix Austria 2019

Pada November 2018, perusahaan tersebut berganti nama menjadi Racing Point F1 Team dan nama konstruktor mereka menjadi Racing Point ketika mendaftarkan diri mereka untuk musim 2019 kepada FIA. SportPesa menjadi sponsor nama (utama) mereka, dan Esteban Ocon digantikan oleh Lance Stroll pada susunan pembalap mereka. Di tahun 2020, BWT menjadi sponsor nama yang baru untuk Racing Point. Pada Grand Prix Sakhir 2020, Pérez memberi Racing Point kemenangan pertama mereka sebagai konstruktor dan badan legal sementara Stroll meraih posisi podium di posisi ketiga. Kemenangan tersebut merupakan kemenangan pertama dari seluruh reinkarnasi tim sejak Jordan memenangkan Grand Prix Brasil 2003. Sementara kemenangan tersebut merupakan kemenangan Grand Prix ke lima sejak dari seluruh reinkarnasi tim.

Aston Martin F1 Team (2021–)

AMR21 pada Grand Prix Inggris 2021 yang dikemudikan oleh Sebastian Vettel

Racing Point UK berganti nama menjadi AMR GP dan mendaftarkan tim mereka pada Formula Satu musim 2021 melalui tim Aston Martin dengan Sebastian Vettel dan Lance Stroll sebagai pembalap mereka. Vettel menggantikan Sergio Pérez dalam susunan pembalap tim. Sebagai bagian dari perubahan merek tim, Aston Martin mengganti warna mobil mereka dari pink BWT menjadi bentuk modern dari warna hijau balap inggris milik Aston Martin. Aston Martin AMR21 dirilis pada Maret 2021 dan menjadi mobil Formula Satu Aston Martin pertama sejak absen dari Formula Satu selama 61 tahun. Vettel meraih podium pertama untuk Aston Martin pada Grand Prix Azerbaijan 2021.

Pada January 2022, Kepala Tim Otmar Szafnauer meninggalkan tim setelah 12 tahun berkarir di tim tersebut. Mike Krack, yang sebelumnya bekerja untuk tim balap mobil BMW dan Porsche, diumumkan sebagai pengganti Otmar pada bulan yang sama. Vettel memutuskan untuk pensiun setelah musim 2022. Fernando Alonso, Juara Dunia Formula Satu dua kali, menggantikan Vettel pada musim 2023 dengan kontrak lebih dari satu tahun. AMR GP membangun kompleks pabrik baru seluas 37.000 meter persegi (400.000 sq ft) untuk tim Formula Satu mereka di Silverstone. Seluruh 3 bangunan pabrik tersebut akan terhubung dan berada di lahan seluas 40 ekar yang berada tepat di seberang Sirkuit Silverstone. Pabrik tersebut direncanakan akan dibuka pada tahun 2023. Cognizant dan Aramco menjadi sponsor nama pada tim tersebut masing-masing sejak tahun 2021 dan 2022. Sejak 2023, jumlah staf yang ada telah bertambah dari 400 menjadi 800 orang.
