Penahbisan wanita pada jabatan imam atau pendeta adalah sebuah praktik yang makin umum pada beberapa kelompok agama besar pada masa sekarang, seperti halnya beberapa agama pagan kuno sebelum juga dilakukan oleh agama-agama Yudeo-Kristen.

Katharine Jefferts Schori terpilih pada 2006 menjadi Presiden Uskup perempuan pertama dalam sejarah Gereja Episkopal dan juga primat perempuan pertama dalam Komuni Anglikan.
