Sejak 1 Januari 2007, Denmark memekarkan 5 wilayah (region) menjadi 13 amt dan menggabungkan sejumlah perkotaan (kommuner) kecil yang sebelumnya berjumlah 270 perkotaan menjadi hanya 98 wilayah perkotaan.
