Menurut legenda mengenai Paus Yohana, seorang perempuan bernama Yohana menjabat sebagai Paus dengan nama Yohanes VIII pada tahun 855 hingga 858. Legenda yang sama mengatakan bahwa Yohana dihapuskan dari catatan sejarah, segera setelah identitasnya terbongkar.
