Terdapat komunitas diakui dari orang Tionghoa di Korea, yang juga disebut sebagai Tionghoa-Korea, sejak 1880an. Kebanyakan migran awal berasal dari provinsi Shandong, pantai timur Tiongkok; beberapa diantaranya dan para keturunan mereka beremigrasi. Namun, reformasi ekonomi Tiongkok dan normalisasi hubungan Tiongkok dengan Korea Selatan telah menghasilkan arus baru migrasi Tionghoa ke Korea Selatan.
