Myctophiformes adalah sebuah ordo ikan bersirip kipas yang hanya terdiri dari dua famili ikan laut dalam, terutama ikan lentera (Myctophidae) yang sangat melimpah. Nama latinnya berasal dari kata dalam bahasa Yunani Kuno yakni μυκτήρ (myktér atau "hidung") dan ὄφῖς (óphis atau "ular") + kata Latin forma ("bentuk luar"). Dinamakan dari myktér dan óphis dikarenakan ciri fisiknya yang panjang, ramping, dan berkepala berat.
