Model matematika

Model matematika adalah deskripsi dari suatu sistem dengan menggunakan konsep dan bahasa matematika. Proses pengembangan model matematika disebut pemodelan matematika. Model matematika digunakan dalam ilmu alam (seperti fisika, biologi, ilmu bumi, kimia) dan disiplin rekayasa (seperti ilmu komputer, teknik listrik), serta dalam sistem non-fisik seperti ilmu sosial (seperti ekonomi, psikologi, sosiologi, ilmu politik). Penggunaan model matematika untuk memecahkan masalah dalam bisnis atau operasi militer adalah bagian besar dari bidang riset operasi. Model matematika juga digunakan dalam musik, linguistik, dan filsafat (misalnya, secara intensif dalam filsafat analitik).

Sebuah model dapat membantu menjelaskan sebuah sistem dan mempelajari efek dari komponen yang berbeda, dan untuk membuat prediksi tentang perilaku.
