Maurice Kottelat (lahir 16 Juli 1957), adalah seorang iktiologis Swiss yang memiliki spesialiasi dalam bidang perikanan air tawar.

Kottelat mendapatkan lisensi di bidang ilmu pengetahuan dari Universitas Neuchâtel pada tahun 1987, dan meraih gelar doktor dari Universitas Amsterdam pada tahun 1989. Pada tahun 1980 dia pergi ke Thailand dan memulai penelitian lapangan di Asia Tenggara dan perikanan air tawar Indonesia. Pada tahun 1997, dia menulis revisi yang penting terhadap genus Coregonus, dengan memasukkan spesies ikan yang berasal dari Danau Jenewa, Danau Constance dan danau-danau lain di Swiss.
