Matthew Parker

Matthew Parker (6 Agustus 1504 – 17 Mei 1575) adalah seorang uskup Inggris. Ia adalah Uskup Agung Canterbury di Gereja Inggris dari tahun 1559 sampai kematiannya. Ia juga seorang teolog berpengaruh dan bisa dibilang salah satu pendiri (bersama Uskup Agung Canterbury sebelumnya, Thomas Cranmer dan teolog Richard Hooker) dari tradisi pemikiran teologis Anglikan yang khas.

Parker adalah salah satu arsitek utama Tiga Puluh Sembilan Artikel, pernyataan yang menentukan doktrin Anglikan. Koleksi manuskrip Inggris awal Parker, termasuk buku St Augustine Gospels dan "Versi A" dari Sejarah Anglo-Saxon, diciptakan sebagai bagian dari upayanya untuk menunjukkan bahwa Gereja Inggris secara historis independen dari Gereja Roma dan merupakan salah satu dari koleksi naskah kuno terpenting di dunia. Bersama dengan sarjana perintis Lawrence Nowell, karya Parker mengenai sastra Inggris Kuno meletakkan dasar bagi studi Anglo-Saxon .
