W. E. Daniel "Dan" Ross (1912-1995) adalah penulis Kanada yang terlah menulis lebih dari 300 buku dalam berbagai genre. Dia sering memakai nama pena Clarissa Ross, Ann Gilmer, Dan Roberts, dan W.E.D. Ross. Sebagai Marilyn Ross dia menulis cerita-cerita fiksi-gothik yang populer termasuk serangkaian novel tentang vampir Barnabas Collins yang didasarkan pada seri televisi Amerika Dark Shadows (1966-71).

Paperback Library mulai merilis novel yang didasarkan pada seri televisi Dark Shadows pada Desember 1966. Keseluruhannya ada tiga puluh tiga novel yang dirilis sepanjang 1972, kesemuanya ditulis oleh Dan Ross dengan nama pena Marilyn Ross.
Dari semua novelnya, dengan pengecualian House of Dark Shadows, merupakan bagian dari cerita seri televisinya. House of Dark Shadows sendiri diadaptasi dari film MGM film, House of Dark Shadows, dan juga ditampilkan sebagai kelanjutannya.
