Santo Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin yang juga dikenal sebagai Juan Diegotzil (1474–1548), atau dalam bahasa Indonesia Santo Yohanes Yakobus, seorang asli dari Meksiko, adalah santo pribumi Katolik Roma pertama dari benua Amerika. Ia berkata bahwa mengalami penampakan Bunda Maria pada empat kesempatan terpisah pada Desember 1531 di bukit Tepeyac, yang pada waktu itu berada di luar namun sekarang terkenal di metropolitan Mexico City.

Rose dari Lima (1586-1617) adalah sana Amerika pertama (dibeatifikasikan pada 1667, dikanonisasikan pada 1671); Martin de Porres (1579-1639) adalah santo Amerika mestizo pertama (dibeatifikasikan pada 1837, dikanonisasikan pada 1962); dan Kateri Tekakwitha (1656-1680), seorang wanita Mohawk-Algonquin yang tinggal di New York State merupakan orang pribumi Amerika pertama yang dibeatifikasi (pada 1980; ia dikanonisasikan pada 2012).
