Sejarah

Stasiun televisi ini diluncurkan pada tanggal 29 April 1977 sebagai CBN Satellite Service, suatu bagian dari Christian Broadcasting Network. Namanya kemudian diubah menjadi CBN Cable Network.

Pada tanggal 1 Agustus 1988, dengan inkorporasi dan pemasukan kata "Family", diluncurkan ulang dengan nama The CBN Family Channel, namun 2 tahun kemudian, CBN memutus hubungan dan saluran ini berganti nama lagi sebagai The Family Channel. Saluran ini dikhususkan untuk menayangkan program-program hiburan, termasuk drama, sitkom, dan kuis.

Saluran ini kemudian diambil alih oleh Fox Broadcasting Company dan Haim Saban dan diganti namanya menjadi Fox Family. Pada masa ini, saluran ini untuk pertama kalinya menayangkan kartun-kertun dari Fox Kids. Selain itu, saluran ini juga mengutamakan olahraga, termasuk Major League Baseball. Pada tahun 2001, Fox Family dijual kepada Disney seharga $ 5.3 biliun, dan diganti namanya sebagai ABC Family.
