Awal hidup sunting
Dok2 lahir pada tanggal 28 Maret 1990. Dia adalah setengah Korea, seperempat Spanyol dan seperempat Filipina. Dok2 yang berada di industri hip-hop sejak ia berusia 12, banyak memiliki beberapa alias, termasuk Gonzo ‘the Notorious’. Pada tahun 2002, saat ia berusia 12 tahun, ia mengirim demo rekaman ke Cho PD. Pada usia 13, ia berada di bawah label Cho PD, Future Flow Entertainment. Sejak saat itu, ia terus memproduksi lagu untuk banyak rapper hip-hop Korea terkenal, seperti Drunken Tiger, Dynamic Duo dan Epik High. Sebagian besar lirik ditulis oleh dia, serta musik.
Ketika ia berusia 16, Dok2 bergabung sesama rapper anak, Microdot dan merilis single, Chapter 1/MUSIC, 2006. Dok2 kemudian mengejar karier solo dan merilis dua mixtapes: Thunderground Musik dan Vol 1. Illstrumentalz pada usia 17.
Karier sunting
Sebagai anggota lama dan afiliasi dari hip hop kolektif The Movement Crew, Dok2 memproduksi dan berkolaborasi dengan beberapa artis Korea hip-hop. Ia menandatangani kontrak dengan label independen Epik High, Map The Soul Inc.
Pada tanggal 25 November 2009, Dok2 merilis debut album mini berjudul Thunderground EP. Saat ini ia adalah CEO dari Illionaire Records dengan The Quiett, setelah memulai perusahaan bersama-sama. Pada Juli 2011, Dok2 menjadikan penampilan debutnya di London. Penampilan lainnya juga dilakukan oleh artis seperti pemenang kontes YG Entertainment, Cherelle Joy Thompson, DSD dan Jay Differ.
Illionaire Records sunting
Dok2 dan The Quiett bermitra bersama untuk membentuk label rekaman independen hip-hop mereka sendiri, yang dikenal sebagai Illionaire Records, pada bulan Januari 2011. Setelah The Quiett mengumumkan perpisahannya dari Soul Company, label lain yang telah dibuat The Quiett sendiri, bersama Jerry. K & Kebee.
