Axel Martin Fredrik Munthe (31 Oktober 1857 – 11 Februari 1949) adalah seorang dokter dan psikiatris kelahiran Swedia, yang dikenal sebagai pengarang Kisah San Michele, sebuah catatan autobiografi kehidupan dan karyanya. Ia dapat berbicara dalam beberapa bahasa (Swedia, Inggris, Prancis, Italia dan Jerman), dibesarkan di Swedia, masuk sekolah kedokteran, dan membuka praktik pertama di Prancis. Ia menikah dengan seorang aristokrat Inggris dan menjalani masa dewasa di Italia.
