Apnea tidur

Apnea tidur (bahasa Inggris: sleep apnea atau sleep apnoea) adalah gangguan tidur dengan kesulitan bernapas (apnea = "tanpa napas") berulang kali ketika sedang tidur. Ada dua jenis sleep apnea: pusat dan obstruktif. Terdapat juga jenis campuran. Orang yang menderita hal ini biasanya tidak sadar, walaupun setelah bangun. Sleep apnea dikenali sebagai masalah oleh orang lain yang mengamati atau dapat dikenali dari akibatnya terhadap tubuh (sequelae). Diagnosis sleep apnea dilakukan dengan polisomnografi.

Apnea dapat juga diartikan sebagai berhentinya pernapasan untuk sementara. Dispnea yang dibarengi dengan apnea dapat menyebabkan terjadinya awal sebuah kematian.

Gejala sunting

Seseorang yang mengalami sleep apnea biasanya tidak bisa mengenali gejalanya. Meskipun begitu, gejala ini biasanya bisa dirasakan oleh orang yang tidur di sekitarnya.

Berikut adalah beberapa gejala umum sleep apnea:

  • Mendengkur keras
  • Tenggorokan terasa sakit atau kering saat bangun tidur
  • Terkadang terbangun dengan terengah-engah atau sensasi tersedak
  • Tidak bertenaga di siang hari
  • Tidur gelisah
  • Cepat marah
  • Sakit kepala di pagi hari
  • Pelupa dan sulit konsentrasi
  • Gairah seks menurun
  • Insomnia
